Mi experiencia en el cole CEIP El Santo

Hola a todos soy Carmela y vengo de Italia y me gustaría contaros mi experiencia en el cole el Santo.

Como ya he dicho vengo de Italia y llevo dos mese aquí en Alcázar dentro del programa Erasmus plus para practicar como profesora.

He estudiado en la universidad para ser profesora de italiano para los extranjeros y lo que es mi deseo es enseñar a los niños. 

Todo empezó por eso. Quería pasar algunos meses en un país extranjero para enterarme de lo que pasa de verdad cuando intentas hablar y comunicar con niños de otra cultura. También mi objetivo era ver como planeaban las actividades en un colegio extranjero para trabajar en un ambiente diferente donde podía aprender algo nuevo y distinto. 

La verdad es que esta experiencia al final ha sido mucho más bonita y preciosa de lo que podía imaginarme. Han sido dos meses maravillosos y seguramente una de las experiencias más increible de mi vida.

Llegué aquí algunos días antes de la semana santa para prepararme un poco y la verdad es que no sabía que esperarme y tenía un poco de miedo sobre todo que no hubiera sido capaz de comunicar con los niños y de relacionarme con ellos. Ya el primer día en Alcázar conocí a mi futuro tutor, Antonio Salomón que estuve esperándome a la estación de  tren.

Desde el principio pensé que era muy amable y simpatico. Meses antes de empezar la práctica me había enviado mensajes y video para enseñarme algo de su propia metodología y de su manera de trabajar durante de las clases con los niños. Todo me parecía muy interesante pero también muy diferente de lo que estaba acostumbrada a ver en los colegios italianos.

Los primeros días tuve solo que observar, conocer los profesores y los cursos. Como Luis, el director me había explicado mi objetivo principal era hablar en inglés con los niños sobre todo durante de las clases de ciencias naturales planeadas segun la metodología CLIL, y hacer asistencia ayudando a el profesor con las actividades. 


Hi everyone! I am Carmela and I come from Italy and I would like to tell you something about my experience in the school El Santo.

     As I said, I come from Italy I have been living here in Alcazar for two months in order to practice as teacher thanks to the Erasmus program.

     I studied at the University to be teacher of Italian for foreigners and my wish is working with the children.

     Everything started because of that. I would have liked to spend some months in another country to realize what it means for real dealing with foreign children belonging to a different culture and communicate with them.

     Another aim was to observe how the classes were organized in another country and to learn different things that were completely new for me.

    The truth is that this experience it has been so much beautiful than I could have ever imagined. Two wonderful months and one of the best experience that I have ever had for sure.

     I arrived here just some days before the Easter’s holiday in order to be prepared but I didn’t know what could I expect and I was a little be afraid that I wouldn’t be able to interact with the pupils and to communicate with them.

     The first day in Alcazar, I met my tutor, Antonio Salomón who was waiting for me at the railway station. As I met him, I immediately thought that he was very kind and nice. Months before He had sent to me videos and messages to show me the methodology and the way he used to work in the class with the pupils. It was very interesting but even so much different than the school in Italy.

     The first week I just only had to watch, know the teachers and the classes. The school’s headmaster Luis told me that my principal aim was to talk in English with the children especially during the classes of natural science developed according to CLIL methodology.

Estoy convencida de que la metodología CLIL es una manera eficaz de trabajar, mucho más de la que es la manera clásica de enseñar lengua inglés en los colegios. La mayoria de nosotros creemos que como las pequeñitas mentes de los niños son como esponjas pueden aprender cualquiera cosa. En parte es verdad pero lo que pasa es que como nosotros adultos ellos necesitan también hacer experiencia del cualquier conocimiento. La lengua no puede ser algo solo teórico. Oraciones que tenemos que recordar y luego ya después de dos meses sin practicar nos hemos olvidado de todo. No puede ser algo que aprendemos de memoria como frases hechas. Aprendemos utilizando palabras nuevas en contextos reales y concretos. Por esto creo que la metodología CLIL a lo largo dará sus frutos aunque ahora puede parecer algo sin sentido. Los niños intentan aprender una lengua utilizándola y la utilizan para explicar cosas, para explicar que es la energía o que pasa cuando ponemos hielo a calentar. Aprenden a conectar palabras con hechos concretos y sonidos con conceptos. 

Fue claro ya después de la primera semana que en este cole no tienen miedo de ententar metodologías inovadoras adaptándolas claramente a través del trabajo inteligente de los profesores a las necesitades de los alumnos.

Trabajar en el mismo curso con Antonio ha sido una fuente increible de inspiración. El trabajo cooperativo y el respeto por la manera que cada alumno tiene de aprender según su tipo de inteligencia es lo que me ha parecido ser lo más importante. 

     I am sure that this is a very efficient way to teach english much more efficient than the classical way that we can usually see in most of the school.

     The vast majority of people think that as the pupil’s minds are like little sponges they can learn anything.

     I think this is partially correct but what happened is the same for adult and children. I mean that we need to experience knowledge. You cannot teach any language as if it were only theory. We cannot just learn sentences and then after two months without practicing simply forget them because we are not able to remember them anymore. We learn words in contexts, real contexts. This the reason why I think long-term results can be expected by this kind of methodology because children learn how to explain thing in another language for example they could be able to explain what happens when we put ice above a heat source.

      After the first week, I realized in this school they were not afraid of trying every time something new and innovative adapting it teachers to the necessities of the children.

     Working in the same class with Antonio it has been a huge source of inspiration.

     The cooperative work took into account the way each pupil learn depending on his own kind of intelligence and this was definitely the most important thing.

Antonio es capaz de variar mucho las actividades así que los niños no tienen tiempo para aburrirse.  Los niños tienen a disposición un profesor con un enorme conocimiento y cuya preocupación principal es que los niños aprendan y sigan aprendiendo enterándose de las cosas y sean futuros ciudadanos responsables. De hecho las horas de ciencias naturales siempre tienen una parte de la clase la cual está dedicada al vocabulario para permitirles enriquecer no solamente su vocabulario inglés sino también su vocabulario español haciendo comparaciones entre los dos. Todo esto para que los alumnos al final sepan como gestionar aquel ámbito en ambas lenguas.

Los niños aprenden a trabajar en grupos desarollando actividades juntos y lo que estan más preparados pueden ayudar a los que tienen más dificultades mejorando cada uno a la vez. El primero enterándose de que de verdad haya entendido y hecho suyo un tema para que lo sepa explicar a los otros compañeros y, el segundo aprendiendo a hacer las cosas de su propia manera como los demás.

Me he dado cuenta que en el colegio los niños tienen muchas posibilidades de hacer actividades prácticas a través de las cuales pueden aprender disfrutando de las horas que pasan en el colegio.

Las clases de educaciòn fisica les ayudan a ser todavia más colaborativos jugando como equipos, las clases de expresión corporal les ayuda a no tener miedo de expresar sus proprias emociones y sentimientos, sobre todo a los alumnos más tímidos. Através de las TIC pueden aprender cómo uitilizar de la manera más util todas las herramientas que la tecnología hoy día nos ofrecen y las excursiones les permiten conocer de manera directa el pueblo, su historia y sus tradiciones.

     Antonio is always able to vary the activities he does so that the children do not have enough time to get bored. They are lucky because they have a teacher with an incredible knowledge who really takes care that the children learn and keep on learning in order to be one day responsible citizens.  

     For this reason, a part of all the natural sciences classes is dedicated to the vocabulary in order to let the pupils enrich their vocabulary, not only the English one but also the Spanish one so that the children can be able to deal with that field of the knowledge in both languages.

     The children learn how to work in team. The ones with better mark can help the ones with bad marks and they can both improve at the same time.

     The first one because he realize how much he learnt and how much is able to explain and the other one because can understand how to do things according to his own method or style.

     I realized that the children have so many opportunities to do practical things enjoying their time in the school.

     The physical education classes help them to cooperate once more playing games divided into teams, body expression help them not to be afraid of showing their own feelings and emotions and it’s especially useful for the most shy pupils. Thanks to the TICS classes, they can definitely learn how to use all the tools technology offers to us nowadays in the most proper way and eventually, the activities outside the school let them know better the town, its history and its traditions.

Gracias a diferentes talleres aprenden a convivir y a buscar ideas para solucionar los problemas.

Han sido dos meses llenos de emociones y cariño y las sonrisas de los niños eran la recompensa más grande.

Durante estos meses he enseñado a los niños de los diferentes cursos cosas sobre la cultura italiana explicando todo en inglés y la verdad es que al final los niños se enteraban de lo que decía y les gustaba mucho.

    They learn how to live together and how to come up with ideas in order to solve problems.

    Two months full of emotions and love and the smiles of the pupils was the biggest reward. 

    During these months, I have showed to the pupils something about Italy and Italian’s culture explaining everything in english and the truth was that they were able to understand me and in the end they really liked it.

He tenido la oportunidad y el honor de hacer parte del proyecto e-twinning, inventando el final de una historia que había sido empezada por un colegio de Polonia y luego continuada por lo de Grecia y otro colegio de Polonia. La verdad es que el final cuenta un poco también mi experiencia aquí como he sacado inspiración desde lo que me ha pasado aquí en estos meses.

     I had the opportunity and the honor to take part in the e-twinning project, imagining an end for the story started by another school in Poland and continued by others schools in Greece and Poland once more. The truth is that the end of the story talks a little bit about my experience in the town so I took inspiration from the days I spent here in Spain.

El proyecto e-twinning es un proyecto que revela el compromiso del cole en proyectos europeos para permitir a los niños de aprender sobre la cultura de otros paises. Uno de los temas más precioso fue lo sobre la discapacidad y entonces los lenguajes de los sordos y de los ciegos, para que los niños pudieran darse cuenta que aunque somos todos diferentes cada uno de nosostros es un ser especial con su proprio don y que tener discapacidad no significa no saber hacer las cosas sino hacerla de otras maneras.

     The e-twinning project reveals how much the school is committed with European projects to let the children know about others countries. One of the most interesting topic was the one about the disability. They have been learning something about the language blind and deaf people have to use. The children understood that even if we are different we are all special, every one of us has its own gift, and that disability is not about not being able of doing something but being able to do things in another way.

Tuve la posibilidad de participar en la grabación del lipdub y de atender a la celebración del centenario del colegio. Todo ha sido muy emotivo y ya sé que todas las veces que miraré aquel video y el entusiasmo de cada uno de los niños será difícil retener la emoción. 

     I took part in the recording of the lipdub for the celebration of the centenary. It was such a moving thing and I know that every time I will watch it again I will not be able to retain the emotion.

Os echaré de menos a todos vosotros. He aprendido mucho no solamente de los profesores sino también desde los niños que me ayudaron, la verdad es que también gracias a ellos he mejorado mi idioma y atender con ellos algunas clases de lengua ha sido una manera para aprender y seguir aprendiendo el español, sus errores eran también los míos y esto era muy divertido porque mis dudas eran sus dudas. Cuando no entendía algo hacían todo lo posible para hacerme entender sobre todo al principio cuando más me costaba entenderles. Así que también ellos han sido de alguna manera mis profesores.

Al final como ahora queda muy poco quiero aprovechar también de esta oportunidad para deciros muchas gracias a todos los profesores y a todo el colegio por haberme hecho don de compartir conmigo vuestro conocimiento, sé que he aprendido muchísimo, y como ya dije una vez: “He aprendido mucho más aprovechando de los dos meses aquí que si hubiera estudiado un año entero leyendo libros y libros”. Un montón de cosas que espero un día poder utilizar con éxito con mis, espero otra vez, futuros alumnos. Gracias por haberme hecho sentir parte de una familia.

Espero volver muy pronto y seguro que aquí dejo un trozo de mi corazón.

     I am going to miss everyone in the school. I have learned so much not only from the teachers but even from the children. They helped me improving my Spanish . Sometimes I was with them during the Spanish lessons, I learnt, and I am still keeping on learning so much, their mistakes were my mistakes and their doubts were my doubts too.

     When I did not understand something, they tried everything to make me understand what they wanted to say especially at the beginning when I had much more difficulties. In the end, they were my teachers too. 

    Now that is so close the day I will leave I want to take the opportunity to say thank you to all the teachers and everyone in the school who share with me their knowledge. I learned so much and as I said once “I learned much more only spending two months here than if I had studied an entire year”. So many things that I hope one day to use with my pupils.

     Thank you for letting me feel part of a family.

     I hope to come back very soon because I am going to leave here a piece of my heart.
